Design calculations for form work of PIER

I have learn about the form work of PIER.  Form work is the term given to either temporary or permanent molds into which concrete or similar materials are poured.

I have make spreadsheet with help of Dr. Harvinder Singh and Dr. H.S RAI . The calculations for form work of pier is done by reading IS code 14687 and IS code 875 (Part-3). To understand the calculations is little difficult for me but finally i completed my work on time. It is easy to make spreadsheet by putting formulae and also i learnt more commands which make easy to make spreadsheet. ESTIMATION AND COSTING

 

I have done estimating and costing of a project. I feel difficulty in calculations because, the calculations  are difficult and too lengthy . But my group with a great effort complete whole estimating. We taken time to complete this work is 6 days. While calculating we face a lot of problem but it is interesting to do while solving it.

STAAD PRO

 

I work on STAAD.Pro. It is a software to analyse and design structures. It is capable of designing structure made with steel, concrete, timber, aluminum etc. It is a powerful software.

HOW TO USE 

First of all, open the software, start a new project and select the units and type of structure you want to work on. Then, it’s window will be opened. Here you will draw beams, columns or what ever structural element. After geometry is drawn, you have to assign property to the geometry. To do that go to geometry tab and then to the property tab and there define the materials and then assign them. Then go to support tab, define the supports and assign them. Then go to loads and definitions tab and define loads and assign them. Then go to Design tab and select the sub tab, you are dealing with. Then select the relevant code and define parameters. Then go to Analysis tab and analyse the structure. Sort out the errors if you confront any.

ETABS

My first assignment was to analyze a propped cantilever on ETABS 2015.

Me and my group prepared a presentation on this.

Next day me and my group designed that propped cantilever.

Project management

Today i learn about project management.  It means that the management of project such as labours,finacial,materials etc and various other activities to be proper manage.

PRIMAVERA

This is the software in which we can manage whole project. Regarding materials,time period (calender) , calculations etc all we can manage in this software. Primavera is best software for management of project and it is easy to use.

DGPS

Differential Global Positioning System (DGPS)

I have done work on DGPS instrument with the help of our senior. This instrument is used for wide area and we get accurate value. It is fine and easy to use. I thankful to my senior harinder cheema and sawanpreet singh dhaliwal who help us to how to work on this instrument
